The Society’s museum includes many artifacts and exhibits about the south Lake Minnetonka area including the Excelsior Amusement Park, Excelsior High School and local businesses, as well as the famous Lake Minnetonka sailing vessel the Onawa.

Free. Group tours available.

The Museum is located at 305 Water Street in the old Excelsior depot.

Open May through September

Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


The Society’s archives hold many local historic records including photographs, maps, newspapers, historic Excelsior vital records, and other materials of special interest to genealogists and those researching building and house history in the area.

A fee may be charged for research and reproductions.
